welcome to 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐞! we're so excited to have you with us. we hope to cultivate a safe, supportive creative space for writing and interaction where both writers and characters from all walks of life are welcome! thinking about joining us? please observe the following rules.

conduct
due to the supernatural and mythological theme of this community, 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐞 may incorporate dark or adult themes. as such, please label and cut potential triggers, and vet that all parties have given their consent to be involved. ooc communication is key, please ask and communicate before acting.

please treat others with respect and kindness. do not cross ic/ooc lines. if you are having an issue or disagreement with another player, contact the mods, and we will make every effort to mediate fairly. please do not police others' behavior by leaving harassing, disparaging, or negative comments, or you will be promptly removed.

playing
all characters and pbs must be over 18 years old, and all images of them must be over age. because of the supernatural nature of the game, pbs are not required to stay strictly within an age limit as long as they generally match the perceived age of the character or their abilities allow for age/appearance changes (ex: time travelers, shapeshifters, etc).

strongly controversial, problematic, or deceased pbs will not be accepted. please do not whitewash culturally diverse characters or roles. if at any time you are unsure if your pb is appropriate, the mods are happy to field questions. there's no penalty for asking!

there is no character limit. please continue to disclose which characters you are writing when you apply.

you may play a mythological deity or any supernatural species. if writing any deities, keep in mind that there are multiple, wonderful pantheons to choose from. writing the greek god of war? be ready and willing to coexist (and stop collaborate and listen) with the egyptian god of war! however we have no desire to become a deity centric gpsl and may freeze the addition of any new deities until a comfortable ratio is reached!

because canons may sometimes diverge, if needed please include either a link to a wiki or a small write-up about your species. two characters of the same species may have different powers, traits, and quirks, and this will be chalked up to differences in the way the power fade has affected individuals. however, you may not use this to remove a common species limit -- for example, vampires must always be vulnerable to sunlight, according to typical lore.

events
there will be community-wide plots and events posted at frequent intervals. we consider this a valuable way to engage with the community and will occur about once a month. community-wide overarching plots will be broken up into "seasons" a few months long, after which there will be a recap of what happened, including any important character developments that may have occurred or swayed the outcome of the event. events might include dice rolls or choices that could change how the season progresses!

each is optional, but you are highly encouraged to participate. each event will try to have a sign-up sheet at least one week prior. in it, we may do things like open requests for you to send us your character's secrets and plot wishes to include in the event, giving your character a chance to shine.

players are also encouraged to run their own events, ffas, and more. you can check our calendar if you want to find a good time for one. feel free to announce to the group in ic or ooc channels that the event is happening. you don't have to announce anything or gain approval for a private event.

how to apply
◇ get an invite from a current member, a pbads post, or asking for one here.
◇ journals can be ic or ooc.
◇ have a backdated ic post and a screened ooc post. we strongly suggest locking down entries to reduce the risk of harassment.

◇ in your ooc post, include the following information:
  • character name
  • species/deity name
  • age (if applicable)
  • where they live (if on earth, what city? if in new paradise, what district?)
  • occupation
  • anything else you want
  • a history of at least 200 words
  • optionally, a very general summary or list of what your character's powers and limits are. this is not required, but is highly recommended for participation in plot events. bear in mind that no supernatural being or deity is all-powerful, and that most people's powers have faded considerably in modern times. any type of power involving omniscience, omnipresence, omnipotence, or similar are banned. for guidance on how powerful various types of beings are, please see the setting.

◇ please bear in mind that your journal will not be evaluated for aesthetics, but we are looking for a solid character with specific, well-rounded details.

we reserve the right to reject any application at our discretion by deleting it. for small issues, like broken links, we may request a fix, but otherwise we will not reply to comments.

after acceptance, post some form of activity within 72 hours, or your character will be removed. it can be a standard intro, or it can take the form of a social media post, narrative, scene or ooc plotting.
