the world of new paradise

𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐞 exists somewhere in a sort of pocket-dimensional space created by deities as a refuge for supernatural and magical beings.

in the most simplified terms it is a congregation of landmasses consisting of varying climates, geographical features, and resources. there are seven districts in total, and a port that contains an underwater kingdom and possible terrors from the deep.

characters are free to live anywhere they like, there's a wide range of housing in each area, spanning a range of climates, environments, and resources. there's modern tech and amenities everywhere because magic - meaning characters can live as quietly off the grid or as luxuriously in a bustling metropolis as they see fit. everywhere is connected by water / bridge / train / portal. however not all bridges are created equal and not all waters are exactly safe.

there are two markets: the kalos market in the north, your one stop shop for everything you don't want to travel for including earthly goods. and the dodgy arcane market in the south where you can buy occult possessions and hard to find / sometimes dangerous supplies and requires password admittance.

species
all species are welcome in the new paradise. they can be deities from around the world, various mythical and magical beings of all kinds, as well as one brand new species: the modern deities. they appeared a few centuries ago and are the newest citizens in town.

players are welcome to define their lore as to what their character's species is like based on the inspirations they're pulled from. because of this some individuals may have different lore, chalked up to the difference in how magic levels have varied for individual beings over time. as you apply, just let us know what your powers are and if needed, link us to a wikipedia page so we can take a look.

power levels
all magical beings, whether they are deities or supernatural creatures, know that they are not as powerful as they used to be. many of them only have a fraction left. here is an example of how powerful different species might be:

a magical creature attempts to cast a lightning storm spell:
  • an elder deity or being (zeus, thor, merlin, etc.) - a storm engulfs the whole district, but no further.
  • a lesser deity or being (minor weather deity, practiced witch) - storm appears over a few buildings.
  • a demigod or novice supernatural being (minor weather demigod, newer witch) - a storm appears in one personal area.
please note that any type of power involving omniscience, omnipresence, omnipotence, or similar are banned. all modern deities are slightly less powerful than their older, more experienced counterparts, and must rule over modern domains - for example, technology, cars, television, social media, electricity, modern fashion, etc. more than one modern deity can have the same domain.
